Since I first stepped onto a windsurf board at the age of twelve, my life has revolved around water sports—both on the water and on land. To this day, I combine my passion for board sports with my profession. It all began with an internship at the windsurfing magazine Surfen. Later, I became the longtime editor-in-chief of the surfing and windsurfing magazine Surfers.
At the same time, I took on the role of event creator and organizer. From 1995 to 2005, I organized the Red Bull Soulwave in a small Danish fishing village, Klitmøller, which at that time was far from being internationally renowned as "Cold Hawaii."
In addition to windsurfing and surfing, stand-up paddling (SUP) has been part of my water sports repertoire since 2008—preferably riding waves. In 2018, I organized the first SUP Wave Camp in Peniche, Portugal, followed by SUP Wave Camps in Cold Hawaii, Denmark.
Wingfoiling
When I first saw pictures of wingfoiling in the summer of 2019, I knew immediately: I had to try it. I ordered my first Duotone wings, a board, and a 1500 foil, and spent the entire winter honing my foil skills on the Baltic Sea. As an experienced windsurfer, I thought it wouldn’t be too hard... but it turned out to be more challenging than expected. This experience made it clear to me: you don’t have to make all the mistakes yourself. With the right guidance and tips, you can learn to wingfoil faster and more safely.
In the summer of 2020, I taught my first wingfoil students around Hamburg and in Cold Hawaii. After all, no one should take as long as I did to nail their first jibe or catch a wave in the early months of their wingfoil journey.
In the fall of 2019, I coincidentally met Kite magazine editor-in-chief and publisher Arne Schuber on the beach at Vorupør. I had already been toying with the idea of creating a magazine for this young and fascinating sport, and with Arne's help, the idea took shape as the Wingsurfers magazine. Since 2020, the magazine has been on the market, publishing four issues per year.
As a result, I’ve probably tested more gear with my team than most wingfoilers manage in their entire water sports career: over 120 wings, 90 foil setups, and just as many boards so far—and the next test products are already waiting in the garage.
In 2023, my family and I fulfilled a dream of living and working in Cold Hawaii. It’s the perfect setting for working on the Wingsurfers magazine and, finally, for teaching wingfoil courses again
